JJ Kavanagh & Sons All County Junior Hurling League

Picturesque St. Mullins welcomed us with a deluge of rain for the first fifteen minutes of this All County League game. Most of the play in the first half took place between the two 21's, with neither set of forwards really dominating. DD Molloy pulled off an excellent save after twelve minutes, but efforts on goal were rare in this game. The closest we came to taking our first score came on seventeen minutes when David Carroll's effort from a placed ball and struck from halfway, struck the upright and was cleared. We had to wait for twenty four minutes before we raised the white flag when Collins Connolly slipped one over. Ger O'Donoghue was to add two more from frees before the half ended, following fouls on James Maher in both cases. St. Mullins were not having any more success as they also only managed three points in this half, all scored in the first sixteen minutes. HT Dicksboro 0-3 Naomh Moling 0-3.

We never got going in the second half and the St. Mullins men seemed to be at the end of every breaking ball. The fact that we only added two more points to our total tally (one from play ), shows the dominance of the opposition. FT Dicksboro 0-5 Naomh Moling 0-3.

JJ Kavanagh & Sons All County Junior Hurling League

Our Junior team recorded a very good win against Windgap in Palmerstown this afternoon in the All County League, following a disappointing loss in the Junior League on 29/5/11. Windgap started the game brightly, leading at one stage by 1-4 to 0-3, but this 'Boro team showed an unbeatable spirit and persevered, fighting for every ball. After a tussle in the Windgap square, James Maher managed to put the ball in the net to put us right back in the game and finish the first half a point in front. HT Score: Dicksboro 1-6 Windgap 1-5.

The start of the second half started best for Windgap again as they were awarded a 21 yard free which they converted to a goal. This however, was to be their last score of the half while the 'Boro were to add a further five points to their half time tally. An interesting and encouraging aspect of this game was that six 'Boro players were to score. Final score Dicksboro 1-11 Windgap 2-5.

Panel: DD Molloy, David Carroll, Oisin Breathnach, John Kelly, Mikey Hayes, Kevin Nolan(Capt), Willie Cuddihy, Michael Rafter(0-1), Jamie Lynch, Jessie Watters, James Maher(1-1), Ger O'Donoghue(0-1F), Eamonn Campion(0-5 of which 0-3 from frees), Cillian Breathnach(0-1), Collins Connolly(0-2), Dan O'Neill

All County Junior Hurling League

O'Loughlin Gaels provided the opposition in our second game of the JJ Kavanagh & Sons All County Junior Hurling League.  O'Loughlins lead of 1-9 to 0-3 at half time was not unsurmountable as they had been playing with the advantage of a very strong wind.  The 'Boro's comeback started well when we outscored O'Loughlins by 1-4 to 0-1 in the first fifteen minutes of the second half but then, for no obvious reason, this scoring momentum deserted us, and we only added a pointed free to our tally before the end of the game while O'Loughlins added three more from play to finish the stronger team.  Final score:  Dicksboro 1-8  O'Loughlin Gaels 1-13.

JJ Kavanagh & Sons All County Junior Hurling League:

Black & Whites failure to capitalize on their scoring chances in the first half of this first round match in the All County Junior Hurling League, coupled with some excellent defending from the 'Boro, ultimately lead to this game ending in a draw.  Leading at half time by 0-6 to 0-4, the 'Boro had the advantage of the hill in the second half whilst Black & Whites had the breeze.  The teams could not be separated in the second half as they exchanged scores throughout.  With the game deep in injury time a great passing movement from Brian Dollard to Mark Nolan, saw Mark slot the ball over the bar to claim a draw for the 'Boro.  Full time was called on the puck out.
Final score Dicksboro 0-12   Black & Whites 0-12
